At Dave Teoh Academy (DTA), we follow a balanced training philosophy that incorporates clear communication, consistent structure, positive reinforcement, and appropriate corrections when necessary. Our goal is to build a strong, respectful relationship between dogs and their handlers while achieving lasting behavioral results in a safe and ethical manner.

Dog-Tailored Training Program
Every dog is unique, so we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all program. We assess your dog’s temperament, energy level, learning style, and background history to build a plan that works specifically for your goals, whether addressing reactivity, obedience, socialization, or behavioral issues.

We Do Not Train with Treats
Our core approach focuses on clear communication, calm leadership, and mutual respect, rather than relying on food rewards. This builds real, reliable obedience that works anytime, anywhere, not just when treats are present.
For some dogs, particularly timid or fearful ones, food may be used strategically early in training to support engagement or focus. This is never a bribe, but a tool to associate training with safety and connection. Every dog is different, and we adapt our training to their individual needs while staying true to our balanced, relationship-based methodology.

Real-World, Practical Results
We train for life, not just for the session. Our goal is to help your dog behave at home, on walks, around distractions, and in busy environments.
Owner Involvement = Long-Term Success
Training is a team effort, and owner participation is vital. This is not a “drop your dog off and come back to perfection” program. Your involvement is key to your dog’s progress.
We coach you to:
- Continue the work at home
- Maintain consistency
- Reinforce learned behaviors
Your mindset, energy, and follow-through make all the difference.
